Breakfast of Champions: Thursday 22nd October

Good Morning Champion.

=HIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT=

2 Corinthians 12: 9 – 10 (NIV)
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made
perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my
weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10That is why, for
Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in
persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Our thought this morning is concerning the incredible sufficiency of God's
grace towards us and for the situations we may face. When you read through
this chapter and see the context of it you see it is when Paul is talking of
a "thorn in His side" sent from the enemy. There have been many opinions
concerning what this thorn may have been, and my personal one being that it
was not sickness or infirmity rather another type of ongoing obstacle sent
from the enemy to slow Him down and lessen His impact. The good news being
that by the grace of God he overcame each one and his impact was never
lessened.

Notice that grace is termed by God "His power to do" and that it encourages
us that in the times when we feel weak or unable, his grace or "power to
achieve" is shining at its best and coming through for us. As with Paul, we
all have times when our own abilities are at a low and maybe what is needed
to be achieved seems so much bigger than who we are or what we can do. This
is when we need to, as Paul did, celebrate God's grace which is unmerited,
immeasurable, and unearned power and potential of God that comes into the
situation and turns it around causing great success.

Notice that Paul speaks of boasting in his weakness or apparent inability so
that the power of God (grace) would rest on him. Wow, that's a fresh way of
looking at challenge and trial. Instead of moaning or pretending whilst in
it we choose to celebrate our inability or weakness so as to attract and
release God's power (grace) and potential into it. Remember, God's grace is
never nearly enough or just enough. It is always more than we need. God
always uses abundance of grace.

Look at your situations afresh today and welcome God's grace into each and
every one. In celebrating your inability, you celebrate His ability!

Bless you
Andy
