=LET HIM WORK ON THOSE KNOTS=
1 Peter 4:7-9 (NIV)
The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled
so that you can pray. 8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love
covers over a multitude of sins.
We spoke yesterday about living a life that forgives people whether they be
people in your past or present. Forgiving people is a manifestation of the
potential of God's love and it sets you free. When we get to talking about
forgiving people it can get a bit uncomfortable for some. I guess it's a bit
like going for a sports massage when you have knots in your back. Man, it
hurts during the massage but a couple of days later you feel so much better.
Last week I had a sports massage on my shoulder and back. I had strained
something and a friend called Paul who is in the church offered to help me
out because he is a sports masseur. If you have never had a sports massage
all I can tell you is that it is not health spa stuff. There's no gentle
music or soft strokes. Instead, there's loads of pain, but pain with purpose
to repair what is damaged.
As I laid there biting the towel to muffle my cries, Paul said something
interesting that got me thinking. He noticed my twitches of pain and said,
"Sorry, I have to keep working on these same knots because if I don't, you
won't feel better." He then said ,"I have to get the blood flowing through
them to get them to repair properly". Wow, what a great thought concerning
the knots of un-forgiveness some may be feeling. You have to let the blood
get to them and through them if you want true freedom from pain. The blood
of Jesus, allowed to flow through, will heal and repair every knot of
un-forgivness.
Maybe God is wanting to massage some knots of un-forgiveness? Know that he
is not doing it to cause you pain but to heal and mend you and to make you
strong again. Hey, champion, if you have any knots let God loose on them.
Let the blood of Jesus flow. It may hurt a bit now but real soon you will
feel great. Weeping may endure for a night but rejoicing comes in the
morning.
Proverbs 10:12 (NKJV)
Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all sins.
God bless
