Good morning, Champ!
=TIME TO TAKE THE LAMPSHADES OFF!=
Matthew 5:14-16 (The Message)
"Here's another way to put it: you're here to be light, bringing out the
God-colours in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We're going public
with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you
don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on
a light stand. Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand
— shine!"
As we cross into this new year with faith and expectancy let us also purpose
in our hearts that this will be the year where we shine our brightest for
Jesus, and for His saving message of love and truth.
God has made us light-bearers. How? By coming to live inside of us; just as
light (Jesus) once came into the world and confounded it, so now light
(Jesus) has come into each and everyone of our worlds (lives) and is making
a difference – that's salvation. (John 3:19)
Now that we have His light in us the only decision that remains is: Are we
going to daily let it shine from us? Will we live uncovered lives so that
His light can shine into the worlds of those we daily live and work with,
leading them to the safe harbour of relationship with Him?
It's time to take the lampshades off and let the life of Jesus now in us
shine greater and purer from our lives than any year that we have lived yet.
Its time to cast away any lampshades that we may have, that in any way
diffuse or dull His light coming from us – lampshades of fear, especially
fear of men and what they may think if we come out of the closet as a God
lover. Maybe it will be you losing your lampshade of fear that will result
in them meeting Jesus and finding everlasting life? Maybe it is the
lampshades of compromise or apathy that need to be thrown away? If so let us
dare to lose them so that our lives can be all He called them to be, those
cities set on a hill.
Among all of your new year resolutions, resolve that this will be the year
of no lampshades, the year of no closets; the year where you shine for the
One who gave His life for you.
