Another fresh serving of breakfast!
=TWINKLE, TWINKLE LITTLE STAR=
Philippians 2:14-15 (NIV)
"Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become
blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved
generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe."
Yesterday we spoke about being the light-bearers that God has called us to
be, about daring to lose every lampshade that may dull His light coming from
our lives, and about coming out of the closet with the purpose of being a
_city on a hill_ for Him.
He has called us all to shine (stand out) in a crooked and depraved
generation, not blend in. We are living in days where wickedness is
certainly on the increase, and all around us we see people losing their
fire-like love for God, exchanging it for the love of other inviting
pleasures and lesser things that seem good to their soul. These times were
foretold and we must soberly understand where in history we stand, and be
motivated to be what He has destined us to be (light-bearers).
Matthew 24:11-13 (NIV)
"And many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the
increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands
firm to the end will be saved."
Wickedness increasing in the world should actually define us and cause us to
look like stars in a universe, not cause us to be lost in the haze of
unrighteousness. Our verse today gives us a lovely picture of what God sees
when He looks over the banister of eternity: yes, He sees an ocean of
wickedness on the earth, but then He see us, those with the light of Christ
in them shining like stars in a dark, night sky.
Us shining like stars, and not blending in like hypocrites, causes the
darkness to be disturbed. Just as darkness was confounded, confused and
driven out by Christ, so it is today when we decide to live lives that shine
for God. Don't become obsessed with present darkness that won't produce
anything, but rather consider the presence of His light in you and the
effect that has on a sin-darkened world – then get up and shine!
When the world gets darker we get brighter; like a lighthouse in troubled
seas may our lives so shine that they lead others out of danger and into the
safe harbour of knowing God.
