Breakfast of Champions: Thursday 20th May

Good morning, Champion.

What are God's purposes for this week?

Acts 13:36-37
For when David had served God's purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his fathers and his body decayed. But the one whom God raised from the dead did not see decay.

The Bible reveals all of the purposes of God for those who are looking for them. Among those purposes there are His continual ones; for instance, He ever wants to destroy the works of the devil, and He loves to restore people to relationship with Him and mend broken people.

God has great purposes today concerning your life, and the rest of this week ahead He wants to do great things both in you and through you:

• In your life today? Let him have His way, and let the Holy Spirit minister to you the purposes and direction of the Father for your life. Have ears to hear.

• Through your life today? Submit your life to God as an ever-ready tool in His hand, and let him send you somewhere. Allow Him to put you in the right place at the right time.

It says that, after serving God's purposes, David died and was buried with his fathers and his body decayed. Because of the victory of Jesus we shall die physically, but never decay spiritually because eternity is now in us, and us in it. We shall all close our eyes one day to death but in a blink we shall open them to everlasting life with God through Christ Jesus. Jesus has spoilt the grave and defeated death for all who believe, and just as Christ did not see decay, neither shall we. The Bible says we shall receive a new body and we shall dwell together with Him forever.

Today, be inspired again to live in the light (knowledge) of eternity. You entered into it when you believed in Jesus and were born again. Have assurance that your life shall never end, Champion. In this opening chapter of eternity called 'the here and now', live for God, serve His purposes. Be conscious that, as the actor Russell Crowe said in the film the Gladiator, "What a man does in life echoes in eternity". May the echo of our lives be of the same quality as King David's, that we too served the Lord and His purposes in our generation!

God Bless

Andy
